Review by Robinson C

Dusty Springfield's "Sounds of the 60s" is a timeless album that captures the essence of an era that is long gone. The album is a compilation of some of the most iconic songs of the 60s, including "I Only Want to Be with You," "Wishin' and Hopin'," and "You Don't Have to Say You Love Me."

Springfield's soulful voice brings these classic tunes to life, and her interpretation of the songs is nothing short of brilliant. She infuses each track with her signature style, making them sound fresh and new.

The album is a must-have for anyone who loves 60s music. It is a perfect representation of the era and a testament to Springfield's talent as a singer. The production is top-notch, and the arrangements are excellent.

She achieved a long string of successful albums and singles through most of the 1960's, as well as having several variety series on BBC and ITV networks in the UK which she headlined during those years. Her chart successes slowed in the 1970s, but she achieved a renaissance in the 1980's with the help of the Pet Shop Boys, with whom she recorded two hit records, including her hit duet with PSB, "What Have I Done To Deserve This?" She was diagnosed with cancer after the recording of her final album, "A Very Fine Love." After treatment the cancer was briefly in remission, but eventually returned, and she died in March 1999, a few days after she had been awarded the Order of the British Empire. Shocked that any person could "thumbs down" these lovely ballads by one of history's greatest vocalists. Dusty's renditions of each of these tunes range from gentle Scottish lover's goodbye, to Swinger's farewell, through a tender US tune of tragic wartime losses.
You two might have thumbs, but I wonder if either of you have hearts?

Dusty could sing any genre. Fantastic job done here. T.V. show let her pick all the material she would cover. Made for a great variety show as she'd do a folk song followed by Motown song and next sing a Gospel song. Then she'd sing a song to you in another language. Did it all exceptionally well. There was a reason they gave this woman 4 television series in the 60's.
